Advanced Pharmacist – Adult Medicine & Urgent Care (Band 8a) Kettering General Hospital | University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group Full-Time, Perm or Bank Start Date: As soon as possible About the Role We are working with Kettering General Hospital to recruit an Advanced Pharmacist to join their Adult Medicine & Urgent Care division
This is a senior clinical role providing leadership within the Admissions Unit, Adult Medicine, and Emergency Department, supporting the delivery of a proactive, patient-centred clinical pharmacy service
Key Responsibilities Deliver an advanced clinical pharmacy service across Adult Medicine and Urgent Care pathways Provide expert advice on complex medicines management to clinicians, nurses, prescribers, carers and patients Lead and develop clinical pharmacy services within the Emergency Department and admissions areas Support the delivery and optimisation of ePMA systems and medicines optimisation strategies Promote safe, effective and evidence-based use of medicines across the division Contribute to rapid admission and discharge pathways, ensuring continuity of pharmaceutical care Supervise, train and support pharmacy staff rotating through clinical areas Lead on medicines safety, governance, and compliance, including controlled drugs and security Contribute to strategic planning and service development within urgent care services This role plays a key part in ensuring high-quality pharmaceutical care across acute and emergency pathways, supporting improved patient outcomes
Essential Requirements Master’s degree in Pharmacy (MPharm or equivalent) Current GPhC registration Significant post-registration experience within hospital clinical pharmacy Strong clinical knowledge across acute and general medicine Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills Experience working within multidisciplinary teams Desirable Postgraduate clinical pharmacy qualification (Diploma/MSc) Independent Prescriber qualification Experience within Emergency Department or Urgent Care settings Experience in service development, audit, and leadership Knowledge of ePMA systems and medicines optimisation strategies Why Apply?
