Consultant Psychiatrist – CAMHS Crisis Services Location: Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) Contract Type: Full-Time Rate: £100–£125 per hour Start Date: As soon as possible About the Role We are recruiting a Consultant Psychiatrist in CAMHS Crisis Services to join the Acute Crisis and Treatment Service (ACTS) within Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL)
This is an exciting opportunity to join a stable, well-established multidisciplinary team delivering intensive crisis interventions for high-risk children and young people across the five boroughs served by CNWL
The successful consultant will work alongside another experienced Consultant Psychiatrist, supporting urgent assessments, crisis management, and short-term intensive interventions aimed at preventing hospital admission where appropriate
Key Responsibilities Provide senior clinical leadership within the CAMHS Crisis service Assess and manage children and young people presenting with acute mental health crises and high-risk presentations Deliver intensive interventions and crisis management support within community settings Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, inpatient units, schools, social care, and external agencies Support risk assessment, care planning, safeguarding, and Mental Health Act processes where required Contribute to service development, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives Provide supervision and support to junior medical staff and wider MDT colleagues Participate in MDT meetings, case discussions, and strategic service planning What We’re Looking For Essential Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status (or eligibility) Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (or within 6 months of CCT) Significant CAMHS experience, including crisis and acute mental health presentations Strong leadership, risk assessment, and multidisciplinary working skills Desirable Previous experience within CAMHS Crisis or Intensive Community Treatment services Experience working across complex safeguarding and multi-agency pathways Interest in service development and transformation within CAMHS acute care pathways What’s on Offer £110–£125 per hour Full-time hours Opportunity to join a highly supportive and experienced CAMHS Crisis team Work within one of the UK’s leading Mental Health Trusts Meaningful and rewarding work supporting vulnerable young people in crisis Ongoing opportunity with a stable and established service
